About Leon Fletcher

I am a huge Nintendo fan, hence why NintyBuzz exists. I especially love all things Zelda and Metroid. NintyBuzz was started by me back in the Summer of 2014, it started out mainly as a hobby, though the site has gradually grown, and I hope it grows for many years to come!

Black Lives Matter – A Statement

Though we are an outlet for video game related content, we really wanted to post a statement regarding the current Black Lives Matter protests, an event that is very important and means a lot to us. It is also something that SHOULD NOT BE IGNORED.

Like many others, we too are appalled by how black people are still receiving so much injustice in the world, and my heart goes out to everyone affected (as well as their families), such as George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and so many others who have been killed just because they are black.

To all those who are trying to make a difference, we hope you are all able to stay safe. To those who are watching the protests on TV, please remember that those who are looting do not represent the movement and are using it as an opportunity (BLM protestors have been trying hard to try and prevent this).

If you wish to support the movement, there are several things we can do:

  • Donate to any relevant relief or bailout funds
  • Write to your legislation demanding accountability for police actions
  • Support black business, creatives, and devs
  • Use your white privilege to combat injustice
  • Support the protestors by attending the protests (while trying to keep yourself safe from police force)
  • Educate yourself on black history and all the injustice they suffer

Thanks for listening, stay safe, and let’s all make a difference together!

NintyPlays – Ty the Tasmanian Tiger HD

Recently, I’ve been streaming more regularly over on our Twitch profile. Most of the streams have been multiplayer-focused to support Nintendo Players UK and their NPUK Online campaign, however, we have also been starting our own play-through series: NintyPlays!

Every Friday, we have been playing through Ty the Tasmanian Tiger HD on Nintendo Switch. Even though tomorrow we will be concluding the game, I am hoping to continue the series with even more titles. If you were not able to catch the play-throughs live, never fear as we have also been uploading each one to YouTube. Please check out the game so far below. Don’t forget to check out our Twitch profile too!

Tricky Towers launches physically for Switch June 8th!

Tricky Towers is a physics-based multiplayer game that launched on the Nintendo Switch eShop back in 2018. Thanks to Super Rare Games, however, the title will be seeing a physical release with a collector’s edition very soon… as early as next month!

The aim of the game is to stack up bricks to create a strong and stable tower while also trying to tumble down your opponents’. Luckily you are all wizards who can cast a range of defensive and offensive spells. Up to four players can play at the same time over three different modes either through online or local play. There are also 50 trials to take on as a solo wizard, perfect for you to hone in your magically architectural skills!

Included in this collector’s edition are six previously released DLC packs, a 12-page fully coloured manual, interior artwork, an exclusive sticker, and three random trading cards from a five-card set. The edition is limited to 4000 copies worldwide and launches on the 8th June for £32.40; pre-orders begin next week on Thursday 28th May.

More info can be found over at the Super Rare Games website here!

Paper Mario: The Origami King Unfolds on Switch this Summer

Like a surprise paper plane through the window, Nintendo has thrown us an announcement out from nowhere… Paper Mario: The Origami King. That’s right, a brand new Paper Mario title is coming to the Nintendo Switch, and it’s coming soon; 17th July to be exact!

King Olly, ruler of the Origami Kingdom, crashes the origami festival in the Mushroom Kingdom in an attempt to fold the entire world. With a range of new tools at his disposal, it’s up to Mario to save the day. With the brand new 100-arm fold ability, our moustached plumber can extend his limbs to pull, peel, and stretching the environment to solve various puzzles. The Origami King also adds a new way to fight with the ring-based battle system, introducing a new depth of puzzle solving within combat.

Animal Crossing for NHS

Across the nation, NHS workers are working excruciatingly hard to aid in the relief of COVID-19. During these challenging times, nurses, doctors, social workers, and many more are putting their lives at risk to ensure the safety of the general public.

To show our support, we are asking those who own Animal Crossing New Horizons to send in their custom designs that are inspired by and celebrate all the work the NHS has achieved so far. Not only will these designs be available to view by all our readers, but we will also display a selection of them in an upcoming charity live-stream, where we will be clapping for the NHS in Animal Crossing. You can choose to donate towards our fundraiser, where we hope to raise money for the NHS Charities Together organisation to aid in the current relief efforts, send in a design, or both. We will also be contacting a few of those who donate to take part in the stream.

If you wish to show your support, you can find the form to donate and one to submit a design over at the Animal Crossing for NHS portal by clicking here! Be sure to tell your friends too by using the tag #AC4NHS.

Don’t forget: Stay home. Protect the NHS. Save Lives!

Not got a copy of New Horizons yet? Why not see what it’s all about in our review.

First, you became a resident of a quaint town, then you became the mayor… now, for the first time ever, you’ll even be able to run your own island! In a world where we are currently unable to go outside unless absolutely necessary, Nintendo comes into the rescue by launching the latest Animal Crossing title for Nintendo Switch: New Horizons.

After more than a month of getting settled into my new island life, I am now ready to share my verdict on this long-awaited release. Check out what I thought after the break by clicking below.
