REVIEW – YO-KAI WATCH 2: Psychic Specters

Earlier in the year, YO-KAI WATCH 2: Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls made its debut on European shores, inspiriting 3DS systems for a new adventure in Springdale. If you haven’t had enough YO-KAI WATCH, then you’re in luck, as a new entry into the sequel has entered the equation with Psychic Specters.

Is YO-KAI WATCH 2: Psychic Specters as tempting as Jinanyan’s Chocobars, or will it just force you to exclaim “Oh my swirls!” Find out in our review after the break.

REVIEW – Metroid: Samus Returns

It’s been a while since we have been graced with a proper Metroid adventure. Sure there was Federation Force, and though I thought it was an okay game, many would argue that it doesn’t exist to them, but that’s neither here nor there. No, this is about Samus’ reimagined mission to SR388 in an attempt to rid the universe of Metroids.

Could Metroid: Samus Returns take on a fight against Samus Aran, or does it have less life than a victim of a Metroid feeding? Find out in our review after the break!

REVIEW – Monster Hunter Stories

We’ve always assumed that, in the world of Monster Hunter, monsters were just there for the hunt. But what if you could befriend the monsters, ride them, and take them into battle. Believe it or not, there’s actually whole societies who have hidden themselves from the rest of the world for many years, and in those societies there are Riders!

In Monster Hunter Stories, you are the Rider whose solemn duty is to form bona with monsters and get to the bottom of the mystery of declining populations and the Black Blight. Will Monster Hunter Stories fly with pride like your trusty Ratha, or will it not even digest into Monster Dung? Find out in our review after the break!

Nintendo Direct Summary: September 2017

Nintendo crammed new reveals and information for over 40 titles in last night’s Nintendo Direct. Taking the Spotlight segments were Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Project Octopath Traveler and of course, Super Mario Odyssey.

Some of the most notable reveals were from Bethesda as they are bringing DOOM and Wolfenstein II to the Switch with the former in Winter this year and the latter in 2018. On a more peculiar note, Minecraft is coming to the New Nintendo 3DS ‘soon’ but with no word on compatibility with other versions. (more…)

Miiverse Shuts Down November 2017

Since its debut in 2012 for the Wii U, Miiverse has provided a network where Nintendo gamers could talk about their favourite Wii U and 3DS games. Whether you were asking for help, showing off your achievements, or even sharing your artistic talent, Miiverse was the place to be. As we progress further into the life of the Nintendo Switch, unfortunately it is just about time to say our goodbye to Miiverse, as Nintendo has announced it’s closure for the 8th November 2017.

Nintendo has compiled a list of answers to some questions you may have. The service will officially be shutting down, along with Wii U Chat, on the 8th November 2017 at 6am UK Time, and will remove Miiverse features from every game that utilises them. If there any Miiverse posts that you would like to keep, you can request to receive a download of them (excluding comments) by visiting Miiverse on a computer or phone and clicking “Post History Download Information”. You can view the full FAQ by clicking here.

Let us celebrate Miiverse’s legacy by posting your favourite Miiverse posts in the comments below!

European Download 24/08/17 – Pokémon Discounts, Pokkén Demo and More

The eShop is gearing up for a lot of Pokémon next month, with sizeable discounts on the 3DS Virtual Console releases of Red, Blue and Yellow; and the Pokkén Tournament DX demo on Switch that dropped today. The Game Boy titles drop 36% percent to £5.75 / €6.39 granted you have a Nintendo Account linked, otherwise the discount’s a tad smaller. The Pokkén demo lets you play as Pikachu, Charizard and Empoleon and supports local multiplayer (on a single screen). Although it can only be played 15 times, you can get around this by deleting and redownloading it unlike restricted use 3DS demos.

This week another retail game comes out in the form of Minecraft: Story Mode – The Complete Adventure. ‘Metroidvania’ indie hit forma.8 debuts on switch at £8.99 / €9.99 and it’s Wii U counterpart has also dropped to that price. On another Wii U note, Final Soldier (VC PC Engine) and Soldier Blade (VC TurboGrafx-16) have released at £6.29 / €6.99 and £5.39 / €5.99 respectively.

And finally, Piczle Lines DX releases at £13.99 / €14.99 and another member of the ACA NEOGEO range – PUZZLED – comes at the standard price of £6.29 / €6.99. While four sets of DLC for RPG Maker Fes come at £0.89 / €0.99 a piece. And in case you forgot, there’s another Testpunch for ARMS starting tomorrow (16:00 GMT) and ending on Sunday (21:00 GMT) so don’t forget to download it if you’re interested!
