Yooka-Laylee Gets New Trailer and Release!

Old Rare fans [not saying the fans of Rare are rare] rejoice. The fellows over at Playtonic Games have recently revelled the first proper trailer for their Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor, Yooka-Laylee. The trailer is packed full of platforming goodness. See Yooka roll! Gaze as Laylee takes flight [or glide]! And tremble at the duo’s almighty flower transformation! You can catch all this and more in the trailer below.

Some of you observant lot may realise that the video mentions that the titular duo will be shipping during Q1 2017, which is unfortunately a few months after the initial planned release [October 2016]. However, Playtonic were nice enough to provide a statement of why the game will be delayed. You can view this statement after the break, along with some brand new screenshots and art!

Weekend NintyBeats – You’re a Squid Now!

The music of Nintendo games make them truly remarkable and memorable. To show our love of the music, every Friday we share a selection of tracks from various Nintendo titles, new and old.

“YOU’RE A KID NOW! YOU’RE A SQUID NOW! You’re a kid! You’re a squid! You’re a kid! You’re a squid!” It’s been a year since Splatoon sunk the conventions of a shooter game for Wii U, and to shellebrate, we are dedicating this week’s NintyBeats to the cephalopod fuelled action with it’s freshest tunes the world has ever seen… after the break!

OPINION: What we want from Nintendo NX

As it stands, we are completely in the dark about the NX other than it comes out next Spring and it will include Zelda Wii U in the launch line-up. Seeing how the console is planned to debut in just over ten months, a lot of gamers are growing concerned with exactly what the NX is, or if Nintendo will be able to recover from the commercial failure of the Wii U (which is still a brilliant console). How powerful is it? Is it a hybrid? Will it use cartridges? We are all clueless!

Today, I’ve compiled a list of features and ‘things’ which I believe could make the NX a success, as well as some personal desires, think of it as a NX wish list. Check them out, after the break!

Zelda U Delayed, NX Release and More! – Annual Earnings Announcement

Nintendo held their Annual Earnings Announcement earlier today, and along with updates regarding their earnings from the past fiscal year. The Kyoto based company also dropped some mini bombshells regarding the NX, the Wii U successor that has been shrouded in secrecy, and the next release in the Zelda series for Wii U, which always seems to come out next year.

Check out the press release, along with some of my opinions, predictions, and random mumblings after the break!

REVIEW – Pokkén Tournament

For 20 years, Pokémon has gained a mass following from its Game Boy origins, all the way to the Nintendo 3DS. The popular role-playing franchise has conceived several spin-offs such as Pokémon Stadium, Pokémon Snap, and Pokémon Rumble, a trading card game, an anime series, several movies, and even a live musical and a fairly perverted manga; it’s a fairly diverse franchise. As diverse Pokémon may seem, there has yet to be a game where fighting is at its core, true, most Pokémon games involve duels between two Pokémon, but that is based off of turn based gameplay rather than actual real-time combat.

In comes Pokkén Tournament for Wii U! Originally released in Japanese arcades during the Summer of 2015, quickly got the transition to Wii U later this week, for the whole world to enjoy in the comfort of their own homes. Bandai Namco takes the basis of the Tekken games and places it in the world of Pokémon, more specifically, the region of Ferrum.

Will Pokkén Tournament be super effective with fans, or will is just be a K.O. into the bargain bin? Find out in our review, after the break!

REVIEW – The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD

Nearly ten years ago, Hyrule was shrouded in a thick blanket of Twilight, yet when all hope seemed lost, a young hero from Ordon pierced through this darkness, to bring light back to Hyrule and to destroy those responsible once and for all. Several years later, we return to this epic quest once more with enhanced graphics, a hero mode… and a few other neat new features and improvements, in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, exclusively for Nintendo Wii U!

Does this Twilight Princess remake sparkle as much as Agitha’s golden bugs, or will it join the rest of Hyrule in darkness. Find out in our review, after the break!

Zelda Wii U – The Timeline?

[nextpage title=”Intro/Creation Era” ]With the release of the next new Legend of Zelda game slowly approaching for Wii U, we hardly know anything about it. We know that there will be a constantly changing open world, you can utilise electric arrows, and Epona will be making a mighty return, but that’s basically it… we don’t even have a subtitle yet. Hopefully, this should all change during the Summer (or sooner, we know how Nintendo loves to surprise us), but in the meantime, it won’t hurt to try and theorise some of the details for the next Zelda release?

One of the most important parts of coming up with theories for unreleased games of the franchise is trying to figure out where the game will be set on the timeline. Nintendo have kept the Zelda timeline secret for a very long time (either because they wanted us to keep guessing or they just didn’t have one) but that was finally unveiled in the 2011’s Hyrule Historia (which was released a couple years later in English).

Today, we will be discussing where we think Zelda Wii U could be placed on the Timeline, and of course, feel free to join the fun… after the break!

PLEASE NOTE – The following may contain some crucial story spoilers of currently release The Legend of Zelda games!
